A full bodied 80/ - ale of a rich chestnut hue. We brew it with a blend of Scottish full malt barley, English first gold and American cascade hops giving it a balanced flavour with a sweet malt finish.
All of our ales are named on a covenanting theme. Old Mortality takes its name from the eponymous hero of Sir Walter Scott’s novel but was in fact a real life character named Robert Paterson. He devoted his life to travelling around the country to carve and maintain the graves of Cameronians and Covenanters who had died in their cause.
Those of you who have read the novel may recall that some of it is set in Tillietudlum Castle situated not far from Strathaven.
